Meet Larry

NonprofitNext provides “People-First” AI strategy and design for small to mid-size nonprofits in the Carolinas.

I specialize in helping nonprofit organizations thoughtfully adopt AI in ways that strengthen their mission and protect the communities they serve. My work is grounded in years of experience in the nonprofit sector, which allows me to understand both the operational challenges and the human impact behind every decision. I focus on practical, accessible solutions that make information easier to use, reduce staff burden, and improve service delivery.

My approach often begins with understanding how an organization currently manages its data, workflows, and client interactions. From there, I design systems that bring clarity and efficiency. For example, I have built tools like information and referral chatbots that provide round the clock access to critical community resources, helping organizations support more people while allowing staff to focus on complex cases. I have also developed internal tools that unify data from multiple systems into a single, interactive environment where leadership can quickly access insights and ask questions using AI.

In some cases, my work extends into ongoing partnerships when systems require maintenance, updates, and reporting. While I am still early in scaling these long term engagements, I have already seen how valuable they can be for organizations that depend on current and well managed data.

Ethical AI use is central to everything I do. Nonprofits often handle highly sensitive information, and I make it a priority to educate teams on how to protect client data and avoid unintended risks. I guide organizations in creating internal policies that address data privacy, responsible content generation, and the environmental impact of AI tools. These conversations are not secondary. They are a core part of every engagement and training I deliver.

I have been fortunate to work with clients who are open to innovation and willing to explore new ways of operating. Those relationships succeed because there is mutual clarity, trust, and a shared understanding of the value AI can provide. At the same time, I have learned the importance of aligning with organizational culture and leadership readiness. Moving forward, I am intentional about working with teams that are prepared to act and embrace change.

My toolkit reflects a practical and flexible approach. I commonly use automation platforms, spreadsheet based systems, and leading language models to build solutions that are both powerful and easy to maintain. I prioritize tools that nonprofit teams can realistically manage over time.

Ultimately, my goal is to help nonprofits use AI in a way that is responsible, effective, and deeply aligned with their mission to serve others.
